FIU Mauritius was invited by COMESA for a regional training on Financial Investigations and Asset Recovery (FIAR) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 24 July 2023 to 29 July 2023. The 5-day workshop which was delivered by UK experts, included group exercises with particular focus on the importance of international and local cooperation for effective financial investigations and asset recovery. The platform allowed for valuable knowledge sharing between the different institutions covering the various techniques that can be used for analysis of information including the challenges faced in asset recovery amongst others. As part of the training, FIU Mauritius was also given the opportunity to share its experience on financial investigations and asset recovery in Mauritius as well as the AML/CFT framework that applies in the country.
