Other Legislation

Mauritius has over the years enacted several pieces of legislations to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism and proliferation. The domestic AML/CFT legal framework is aligned with the FATF Standards. The legislative efforts aimed at strengthening the AML/CFT framework have amongst others enhanced preventive measures that apply to reporting persons (financial institutions and Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions), supported the National Risk Assessment exercise, provided for restrictive measures under all the United Nations Security Council Resolutions and established powers to Regulatory Bodies to supervise and enforce compliance by reporting persons.
